JUDO
Judo is a dynamic and exciting contact sport for men, women, and children. It combines the excitement of sport with an effective form of self-defense. Judo provides an emphasis on discipline, respect, and self-control and has a rich set of traditions.

Karen Mackey is this area's only certified Judo coach. Mackey is a 6th degree black belt with over 40 years of experience. She is assisted by Jason Allen, a 2nd degree black belt with over 30 years of experience.

This is an ongoing program with monthly dues. Students can join at any time. Classes are held in the Hall of Fame on the 1st Floor of the Long Lines Family Rec Center, 401 Gordon Drive.

KIDS TO PARKS DAY

Sioux City's Kids to Parks Day eventwill be held on Saturday, May 21, beginning at 11:30 am with a "Soaring High" kite flying event in the open space next to the ibp Ice Center. Bring your own kite and practice your kite flying skills and take to the skies. Don't have a kite? The first 30 kids willreceive a free kite kit. Familes are invited to visit the ibp Ice Center for "open skate" and receive a free skate rental with each admission from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm.

YOGA IN THE PARK

Thanks to the generous support of UnityPoint Health and partnerships with Parks & Recreation, the YMCA, The Yoga College, Evolve Yoga, and Balance Healing Arts Studios a free yoga class will be offered every Saturday morning this summer June 4 - Oct. 1.

Yoga will be offered each Saturday at 9 am in the greenspace near the boat ramp on the riverfront. Each class will last approximately one hour and is free and open to the public. Classes will be structured for everyone from first-timers to the regular yoga practitioner. Participants should bring their own yoga mat and a bottle of water.

No registration required to attend this class. For more information or inclement weather, contact Parks & Recreation at 712-279-6126.
