The Library Board of Trustees determines policies for the Library's operation; selects a Director with the authority and responsibility for administration of the Library; develops the Library's annual funding request, budgets the funds appropriated by the City Council, and authorizes all major expenditures; carries out duties assigned by State and local ordinances; actively seeks funding for the Library's needs and services; and promotes the Library in the community.Click here to be directed to the Sioux City Public Library website.
Effective January 1, 2012, Section 69.16A of the Iowa Code requires gender balance on those City Boards and Commissions required or governed by state law unless the City has made a good faith effort for a period of three months to appoint a qualified person. This affects and includes the Civil Service Commission, Human Rights Commission, Library Board of Trustees, and Planning and Zoning Commission.
