Summer hours will begin in March when the Welcome Center will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through October.
The Welcome Center will continue to be closed New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
Located at 1000 Larsen Park Road, the Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center is a site of the Sioux City Public Museum. Admission is free.
Often cited as one of Iowa's most unique Welcome Centers, the Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center is housed in the M.V. Sgt. Floyd. Built in 1932, the now permanently dry-docked vessel serves as a combined state tourist information center and river museum. The history of the Missouri River is chronicled through displays and dioramas primarily on the second deck of the boat. Many of the rooms on the third floor and pilot house have been restored to their original appearance.
