Hydrant Flushing Will Begin
HYDRANT FLUSHING WILL BEGIN
The Utilities Division of the Sioux City Field Services Department will be flushing hydrants between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2009 through Friday, October 30, 2009. The purpose of flushing fire hydrants is to cleanse the water distribution system of rust and iron build-up within the water mains. Residents should refrain from using discolored water during the flushing program. The water is safe to use even if discolored. Flush your system by allowing the water to flow until clear water returns. If the water has not cleared after several hours, call the Utilities Division at 279-6164.
