Road Closure/Lane Restriction Update

8th Street Lane Closure – The westbound lane of 8th Street will be closed from Douglas Street to Pearl Street beginning this week for storm sewer and sidewalk work. This closure is anticipated to last a week, weather permitting.
Pierce Street at Orpheum Theatre – Pierce Street will be closed between 5th Street and 6th Street from 8:15am to 11:00am on Thursday, October 22nd to load/unload children from school buses for a Sioux City Symphony Orchestra performance.
1st Street & Jennings Street Water Main Replacement – South Jennings Street, north of Gordon Drive, and 1st Street, west of Virginia Street, will be closed to allow for installation of a new water main. This work is expected to be complete by the end of October.
Gordon Drive Viaduct Street Lighting – Westbound lane restrictions will be necessary on the Gordon Drive Viaduct for installation of new electrical conduit and lighting on the north side of the viaduct. This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of October.
11th Street Reconstruction – 11th Street is closed between Bus Hwy 75/Lewis Boulevard and Fowler Street for reconstruction of utilities and roadway. Traffic will be detoured along 7th Street and Division Street for the duration of the closure. Construction is anticipated to be complete at the end of October.
Cecelia Street Improvements –South Cecelia Street is closed south of 1st Street. This closure allows for installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main. Construction is anticipated to be complete in October, 2009.
Military Road Phase V Widening & Reconstruction – West 21st Street is closed between Ross Street and Center Street, but open to north/south traffic at Isabella Street and Myrtle Street. Center Street has been re-opened from West 18th Street to West 21st Street. The detours for this project have not changed; the main east/west detour is West 19th Street and both Isabella Street and Myrtle Street are open to north/south traffic. These closures allow for street widening and the installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main. Projected completion date is November, 2009.
Martha Street Widening and Reconstruction – Stage I construction is underway and requires the closure of Martha Street from Gordon Drive to mid-block between Marshall Avenue and Indiana Avenue. Traffic is being detoured to South Cecelia Street via South Alice Street and Stone Avenue. This closure allows for street widening and the installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main.
Heights Neighborhood Reconstruction – Stage II construction is underway, requiring the closure of the following streets: Cook Drive, Valley Drive and Sunset Circle north of McDonald Drive, Ridgeview Road at McDonald Drive, Summit Street just north of McDonald Drive, Kennedy Drive at 24th Street and 24th Street at Hamilton Boulevard. These closures allow for street widening and the installation of sidewalk, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main. Construction is anticipated to be complete in November, 2009.
2009 Paving Patch Program – Construction is underway on 3rd Street, requiring lane restrictions between Nebraska Street and Virginia Street, and on 5th Street, requiring lane restrictions between Nebraska Street and Jones Street.
