CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

The Civil Service Commission administers the provisions of Chapter 400 of the Code of Iowa; prepares and administers examinations for all Civil Service positions and determines seniority for Civil Service employees; serves as the appeal board for employees who receive discipline resulting in loss of pay or termination; and serves as an oral examination board.

ESTABLISHED: 1937

TYPE: Quasi-Judicial

NUMBER Of MEMBERS: 5

TERM: 4 Years

MEETINGS: 1st Tuesday of each month, 12 p.m.

LOCATION: Room 204, City Hall, 405 6th Street

MEMBERSHIP: Must be resident electors; cannot be a candidate or hold office of public trust.

VACANCIES: 2
